How to Take Bad News and Still Thrive

The economic times we are in are touching people’s lives in a challenging fashion. I recently ate dinner with a Harvard Law graduate who felt lucky have landed a less than ideal job. In my personal circle of millionaire friends, six of them have already declared bankruptcy, and others I know are just hanging on by the skin of their teeth. I, myself, am having my own financial issues and am having to bust my butt to maintain cash flow. It’s easy to get down when bad news comes your way, but to cr… Continue

Why Christmas

This is an email I recently received from Troy Olds, a business partner of mine. In these economic times I think it is critical to remember why we celebrate Christmas and to not fall into the trap of “consumerism” as it’s overall defining “time suck” during this holiday season. Remember, the people we care about spell love T-I-M-E. I hope you enjoy this transparent fathers look at his role on this planet during Christmas. Troy is an example to us who continue to strive to be Family First Entrepr… Continue

Is Competition Good For Our Kids?

My wife and I had a spirited discussion (code for, almost an argument) last night on the topic of competition as it relates to the human condition and parenting. The defensiveness, and resulting venom we directed at one another, came from our differing opinions on the subject and how we wanted to approach the parenting of our sons. My wife’s take, is that competition, in general, is a bad thing that brings about an overall negative. I disagree, and respectfully allow her the space to have her op… Continue

ONO Breakdown - Part 1

Over the next few months, I will be going through ONO, from beginning to end, and will be digging in a little deeper to the content. There is so much more to say than the words that are written in the book. I hope you gain incite and knowledge from this series of video clips.

Marc,

Thanks for being my guest on Indie Business Radio today! The information you shared on the show was very valuable and I know my audience was served well by the tips you provided.

I thought of you when I was in the grocery store this afternoon, having driven there in my 10 year old Honda!

Best to you!

Thank you! Happy to be here! My husband read ONO and found it inspiring...now it's my turn. I can't wait! Well, I am headed to do developmental therapy with my special friend. He teaches me more that I can teach him...it's amazing how blessed WE are when we're helping others :) Have a fabulous day!

Thanks for the invite and welcome Marc. Putting family first in a society that sometimes just "pretends" this is important is challenging at the best of times. Part of my business is focused on providing support to parents so they can build a strong, healthy, relationship with the critical people in their life. Parenting is tough whether you put it first or last...my job is to help people find the joy, build the love and feel good about life in general. Kids have a way of bringing out the best in us, if we'll let them :)

Well, I started my business when I was a single (divorced) Dad, after graduating from a design college. I wanted to be available for my two sons and be as flexible as possible. Now I'm married again, have another son, and a daughter who is home with me all the time. Providing before and after school care and full time care for my kids means my wife doesn't have to worry about day cares, and we save a lot of money too.
My company, NBurman Design, offers print and web materials to help business market themselves - everything from websites to business cards and multimedia.

I learned of you and your work today while listening to my favorite radio station, 94.1 KBXL. It was God's kairos time for me to tune in as I am a solopreneur who often gets work and home life unbalanced. I love my lifework and am energized it, sensing it is God's mission for me. As recent as the first of this month, I discovered the realization that I tend to get a 'driven-nature' and so I made a decision to be more intentional to seek first the Kingdom of God, with God's help.
So the timing of your broadcast, ordering the book and deciding to join your network was all an example of ' He makes everything beautiful in His time'. May the Lord bless the works of your hands and make His face to shine upon you.
