I love Marc's latest post - it is a troubling time, and we've had to make some adjustments.  I'd like to share what adjustments people are making to keep surviving and keeping family first, even if it isn't as much as you'd like!1) I decided to take…

I saw this topic last week and had to think really hard about this. I believe I've been putting off this in our own household because I want to protect my son from the 'pain' of competition - it's not just pain from losing, but also pain from friend…

I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. My family will be making a move in the near future and I will refer back to this when that time becomes more concrete. Thanks.

We're moving - it's been 10 years since I last owned a home, and after moving across Canada, a few years of struggle while hubby was unemployed, then debt repayments, paying off my master's degree, and then the market drop - we've purchased a house…

Marc had a great story on his blog May 12 - excerpt from WSJ - http://www.marcwarnke.com/blog/marcwarnke/starting_over%E2%80%94_entrepreneur I loved hearing what neat new business ideas people came up with (love that parking spot idea!) I'm curious…

The no tv worked for us - but I know it's not a one-size fits all solution. What was hardest, was the reactions from friends/family - my father was the worst - however, I have managed to convince him to turn the news off while my son is in the room…

My husband and I have a saying “It’s all about the boy”. My husband has a full-time job, but luckily his office is flexible enough to allow him to work from home ‘as necessary’, and for a short time he took our son to work with him on days when I ne…

Top Ten Tips to Save Time & Money - Revisited

In 1999, I facilitated an online study group of purchasing professionals studying for the Purchasing Management Association of Canada's C.P.P. exam. During our online discussions, I created a thread asking about 'your most important lesson learned' from starting in purchasing/procurement/inventory/quality through the certification process. To get through the educational and experience requirements took some people 4 years, some the maximum 15 years, but many of the lessons learned were very simi… Continue

1999 Top Ten Tips Article for Saving Time & Money

I was twittering yesterday about an article I ran across, published in a now defunct magazine (HomeBusinessReport). Tip #7 was about buying what you NEED, which I thought was a very ONO concept. Even large businesses buy things that they don't 'need' but 'want' the bargain, but then have to pay to store the item which is no bargain at all! Moving Homes with Little Guys/girls

We're moving - it's been 10 years since I last owned a home - now as a family we've purchased a house. Why buy? There are a calculators, discussion threads that can speak to rent vs buy, etc and in our case we are getting double the house for only slightly more than our current rent/less than rent on a comparable sized house. PLUS, the main reason we are moving - we needed to be closer to the school we are sending our son to.

At the best of times, moving is exhausting...we're excited about the… Continue
